Greeeeetings Trojans! This past year was full of interesting surprises for our outdoor season, as it was also one of the most rainiest seasons in Southern California. From practicing outdoor in the pouring range, to the sudden adoption of two fish mascots, and to driving 6 hours up Northern California for the 2023 West Regions, every archer resiliently gave it their all!

This years USA Archery Collegiate Target West Regionals was hosted in Sacramento, California by UC Davis. Despite the far distance from Los Angeles to the State Capital, the Trojan Archery team sent 14 of its archers to the two day tournament, held in Miles Square Regional Park. It was a long, grueling road trips with some cars even arriving 6 hours before the official start of the tournament in the morning! This is not to say that our archers didn’t have fun, as not only did they compete and meet with new schools, but also get the chance to explore a entirely new city as well.
It’s safe to say that this was one of Trojan Archery’s most fun and memorable tournaments.
This years outdoors competitive tournament saw 6 of our 14 archers shoot outdoors competitively for the first time. Despite the already present challenges and hurdles getting there, our archers pushed themselves forward, emblazoned by the team spirit present and even decorating themselves in SC athletics tattoos while being cheered on by our two, newly unacquainted (fishy) mascots: This and That (see above.) Some came out on top, even bringing home medals despite their first time! It was certainly unfamiliar waters that our archers navigated thanks to their dedication and practice.
All of our archers worked hard this past competitive season, and look forward to a well deserved summer. The fact that not only did we travel far, but brought home medals as well proved the resilience within the team. We are forever proud of our archers and look forward to even more success in the future!
Congratulations to all of our medalists:
Ethan Wang, Roger Zhou, Wesley Situ – Silver Medal – Men’s Team Recurve
Megan Mossembekker, Emily Peng, Olivia Lin – Silver Medal – Women’s Team Compound

Shoot On!
