From Indoor to Outdoor: Celebrating Trojan Archery’s National Team Achievements

With The Vegas Shoot 2020 and the last round of the 51st USA Archery Indoor Nationals wrapping up this past weekend, the indoor season is officially done.

Now that the results are in from all over the country, our team wishes a hearty CONGRATULATIONS to our Club President Mac Whitaker! Mac is currently ranked 6th in the nation for Collegiate Men’s Barebow—qualifying him to compete in the National Indoor Collegiate Finals on March 19th! We are endlessly proud of your hard work and dedication to the sport and to the team, Mac!

We’d also like to celebrate our hard-working archers that have placed in the Top 50 of their collegiate division:

  • Dan Kwasniewski in 19th, Brandon Chung in 39th, and Zhanyu (Jerry) Zhou in 44th for Men’s Recurve
  • Aadi Ghildiyal in 23rd and Michelle DeMers in 28th for Women’s Recurve
  • Yash Tripathi in 34th and Mingyu (Caesar) Cui in 40th for Men’s Barebow
  • Shirley Yu in 16th, Hannah Lee in 26th, Lisa Welter in 39th for Women’s’ Barebow

Fantastic job, everybody!

We also would like to give a huge shoutout to Mac and Aadi again for placing 1st in Collegiate Men’s Barebow and 3rd in Collegiate Women’s Recurve on the WORLD STAGE at The Vegas Shoot 2020!

We would also like to take the time to make a huge shoutout to our entire competitive team this 2019-2020 academic year – you all have been a collective unstoppable force and can’t wait to see what you achieve next Indoor season.

What’s Next for Trojan Archery?

We are now entering the outdoor season in full swing, and our outdoor practices at the beautiful Pasadena Roving Archers range have begun.

It’s an exciting transition, moving from 18 meters to 50 and 70, especially for our teammates who are new to outdoors. Keep an eye out for us at the Collegiate Target West Regionals and the National Outdoor Collegiate Championships!

Other exciting developments this semester include a new round of USA Archery L2 Instructor certification classes hosted by Coach Alex Aloia, so that we can continue our education program to help give back to our SoCal archery community.

Additionally, we will soon be having our annual e-board elections to select the new club leaders who will take our club to our centennial.

Stay tuned to our newsletter for updates! And as always, SHOOT ON!
